Diego el Cigala (Diego Ramón Jiménez Salazar) is a pioneer. With his singing and the essence of flamenco, after 25 years of his career, he managed to build a bridge between flamenco and the most popular genres of Latin American music, such as bolero, tango, Cuban music, salsa... and many other genres. No one has done this before and that's what makes him unique. He is a difficult artist to imitate.

Throughout his career, Cigala has participated in many projects and shared the stage with many cantaores and musicians, such as Enrique Morente, José Mercé, Parrita, Gerardo Nuñez, Tomatito, Ketama, Vicente Amigo, Montse Cortés and Elena Andújar. However, his greatest fame and international success came with the album Lágrimas Negras (2003), which he recorded with the Cuban pianist Bebo Valdés. After the album was presented at the Gusman Theater in Miami, the press described the pianist as a "living classic of Cuban music" and Diego as the "Sinatra of flamenco".

The album "Obras Maestras" contains many songs that were created in the first half of the 20th century and gained popularity in the second half of this century. It is a tribute to the authors and performers who sang them - not always well-known. Thus, Diego offers songs that will be enjoyable for connoisseurs of the genre, but also invites you to get to know the classics - the most popular Latin American repertoire from the last 100 years. During the concerts in Poland, we will hear songs from the album "Obras Maestras", but also known and liked hits from previous albums.

Diego El Cigala combines tradition with modernity, flamenco with other genres and jazz improvisation. As he likes to say, quoting Picasso: "I don't look for, I find" – and he leads listeners into unknown musical meanders, while hypnotizing him with his characteristic, metallic voice. We invite you on this musical, mysterious and exotic journey.
