Exactly on the 9th anniversary of Paco de Lucia's passing, we invite you to the Flamenco Evening dedicated to his memory. This unique Evening will be played by a talented and titled Spanish guitarist Carlos Piñana, as well as the equally talented Austrian guitarist Rainer Maria Nero, and they will be accompanied by Miguel Ángel Orengo on percussion instruments. The musicians will take us into the world of instrumental flamenco, sentimental, deeply rooted in the classics, where sincerity intertwines with passion. Of course, there will be performed also a few songs from Paco's repertoire, and we will reminisce about the last 2 concerts of the Master in Wrocław, organized in 2007 and 2011.

Carlos Piñana
comes from Cartagena, from a family where the love for flamenco music has been passed down from father to son for generations. It is not surprising then that it was his father, Antonio Piñana, who was his first teacher, who, as it seems, had a decisive influence on his musical education. Because despite studying classical guitar at the Conservatory of Music in Cartagena and the Higher Conservatory of Music in Murcia, Carlos Piñana became famous as a flamenco guitarist. Currently, he is considered one of the best guitarists of this genre, which is confirmed by numerous prestigious awards and distinctions with which the artist was honored by the jury of international festivals and cultural institutions. They include the 2001 Alumbre Award from the Emma Egea Foundation, the La Opinión de Murcia Journal Award, and the first prizes at Cantes Mineros, Cordoba Flamenco Art Festival and Calasparra's National Festival of Young Flamencos.

Looking for a dialogue between flamenco and other musical traditions, Carlos Piñana opens up to cooperation with musicians from all over the world, so far he has worked with, among others, Yungchen Lhamo from Tibet, Fathy Salama from Egypt, Naseer Shamma from Iraq, Moroccan musicians (Said Chaibri, Francoise Altan, Aicha Redouane) and Spanish (Estrella Morente, Juan Manuel Cañizares, Carles Benavent, Javier la Torre, Jorge Pardo), with the Irish Ross Daly playing the Cretan lyre and with jazz musicians such as Miles Jay and Tommy Smith. He also collaborated with symphony orchestras from Murcia, Lublin and Kraków, as well as with Ballet Español of Murcia and Compañía Murciana de Danza, for which he composed music for performances many times.

Rainer Maria Nero
is an Austrian-Polish guitarist, composer and lecturer. He studied classical guitar at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna with the excellent Alexander Swete and flamenco guitar in Murcia (Spain) with Carlos Piñana, with whom he has since performed concerts all over the world. In 2015, the artist released his debut album Castles of Spain, maintained in a classic style. Two years later, together with the Flamensky band he founded, he created the flamenco album Fantasias y Danzas, which contains only original compositions. In October 2019, he released another album entitled Conmover. He teaches at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien.

*A reduced ticket is available to retirees, pensioners, school and university students up to 26 years of age and disabled people with their guardian. Children under 7 years of age can attend the concert free of charge if they can sit on their parents' laps.
