Rainer Maria Nero in Wrocław – an evening full of improvisation and musical worlds
On February 22, 2026, at 5:00 PM, Wrocław will host a unique concert by one of the most original guitarists on the European music scene. Rainer Maria Nero, an Austrian virtuoso of classical and flamenco guitar, will perform at the Witrażowa Hall at 1 Purkyniego Street, as part of the Flamenco Evenings series. Although Rainer Maria Nero's work draws inspiration from flamenco and the Spanish guitar tradition, his music is far from orthodoxy. It is an original, multifaceted form in which flamenco meets classical music, world music, jazz improvisation, and contemporary means of expression, creating a unique yet highly communicative musical language. This broad, open approach to flamenco is the idea behind the Flamenco Evenings series.
The artist has been building an international reputation for years, performing solo and in various ensembles and projects, including the Carlos Piñana Group, Los Duendes, and ProFlamenco Trio. His performances are characterized by intense narrative, drama, and intimacy.
The Wrocław concert will present his original project, associated with the album "Kairos", a musical reflection on the moment, time, and intuition. Rainer Maria Nero will perform in a trio, to which he has invited distinguished musicians: Christian Jelicič (keys), an artist who moves freely between classical, jazz, and world music, and Carlos Ronda Mas, a Spanish-born drummer whose precision and sense of rhythm provide a solid foundation for the band's improvised narrative.
Audience can expect a concert full of contrasts, subtle tensions, and expressive climaxes. The program will feature Rainer Maria Nero's original compositions, enriched with improvisations and instrumental dialogue, showcasing the richness of the guitar's colors and possibilities, as well as flamenco's openness to other musical worlds.
This is a proposal for listeners seeking ambitious, moving music that defies simple genre definitions and remains in the memory for a long time.
